OGFHow to play 3IO
3IO is a memory and deduction card game for 3 to 6 players. On your turn, reveal cards one at a time to find three matching numbers, remembering what has already been shown.
1Cards
- 36 cards: three copies of each number from 1 to 12.
- With 3 players, 9 cards each and 9 in the middle; with 4, 7 each and 8 in the middle; with 5, 6 each and 6 in the middle; with 6, 5 each and 6 in the middle.
- Middle cards stay face down. Every hand is sorted from lowest to highest.
2A turn
- Reveal one card at a time: the lowest or highest card of any player, yourself included, or any card in the middle.
- You can never ask for a card from the middle of a hand.
- If the revealed card doesn't match the previous ones, your turn ends and everything goes back.
- If it matches, keep going. Three matching cards make a trio: you keep it and your turn ends.
3Winning
- Simple mode: collect 3 trios, or the trio of 7s.
- Spicy mode: collect 2 linked trios whose sum or difference is 7 (3 and 4, 2 and 5, 1 and 8…), or the trio of 7s.
- If every card is taken with no winner, whoever has the most trios wins.
4Teams
- With 4 or 6 players, play in pairs, partners sitting opposite.
- At the start, each player picks one card to give their partner.
- Partners' trios count together towards the win.
5Playing online
- Create a table, share the code or the link, and start once everyone is ready.
- If your turn timer runs out, a random card is revealed for you.
