How to play Tank 1990
Tank 1990 is a real-time retro tank game for 2 to 4 players, player versus player only. Everyone guards an eagle and tries to destroy everyone else's.
1The map
- A new map is generated every game, symmetric so nobody gets an edge.
- Bricks break when shot. Steel stops shells. Water blocks tanks but not shells. Forest hides tanks.
- Every player has an eagle behind a brick wall, and spawns right next to it.
2Playing
- Arrows or WASD to move, Space to fire. On a phone, use the d-pad and the fire button.
- One shell in flight at a time (two with two stars).
- A tank that is hit loses a life and respawns after two seconds, briefly shielded.
3Winning
- A player is out when their eagle is destroyed or they run out of lives. Your own shells, and your team's, can't hurt your eagle but do break its bricks.
- The last player, or the last team, still in the game wins.
- With a time limit, when time runs out the most tanks destroyed wins.
4Power-ups
- Star: faster shells, then two shells, then shells that break steel. Lost when you die.
- Helmet: shield for 10 seconds.
- Shovel: your eagle's wall turns to steel for 15 seconds.
- Clock: rivals are frozen for 5 seconds.
- Grenade: destroys every unshielded rival tank.
- Tank: one extra life.
5Teams
- With 4 players you can play two against two, with neighbouring bases.
- Shooting a teammate doesn't destroy them: it freezes them for two seconds.
